Wood, says Sergio Rodrigues, is the noblest of natural materials we have at our disposal. And Sonia offers impressive proof. The small, unpretentious stool is reduced to the bare minimum – a seat, four legs – and yet it radiates warmth and sensuousness. This can be attributed in part to the gentle curves of the slightly concave seat – but even more to the beautiful grain and tonal variations of the wood. Incidentally, Sonia is happy to serve not only as stool, but also as an improvised, easily moveable occasional table.
