The exhibition shows a unique private collection of gouaches and collages by Eileen Gray and their realisation in hand-knotted rugs made from the finest wool. ‘To create, one must first question everything’ is a quote from the legendary Irish designer. Inspired by her innovative design theories, we are presenting a contemporary, 100% plant-based rug made from Nepalese nettle for the first time. The refined processing of the nettle creates a wonderful material quality and a novelty for the Eileen Gray rug collection.

On the occasion of neue räume 24, we are also presenting Eileen Gray's iconic furniture designs and contemporary designs by Herzog & de Meuron, to create an exciting dialogue.
