Straw marquetry

Launched in 2012, the Bell Table marked the beginning of the collaboration between Sebastian Herkner and ClassiCon. Within just a few years, the design has almost become a classic due to its fascinating and unexpected use of materials. In 2024, premium craftsmanship has been taken to a new level and the Bell Side Tables and Bell Coffee Tables are complemented by a version with straw marquetry worked into the tabletop. Using precision craftsmanship, the individual straw strips are applied to a base panel, spreading outwards from the centre across the surface like rays of sunlight.

The different shades of straw create a striking three-dimensional pattern, the depth effect of which is enhanced by a sophisticated manufacturing method. The incorporated natural material contrasts in an exciting way with the coloured glass base of the table, creating charming reflections that emphasise the distinctive elements of the Bell Table and celebrate the traditional craftsmanship. Each table is a unique handcrafted piece, including the typical features of varying glass thickness, small bubbles or irregularities.
