Side table? Notebook stand? Reference library? Konstantin Grcic‘s new series of sheet metal tables is open to a wide range of interpretations and uses and, most importantly, to the imagination. Just as words are built from letters, the Diana tables combine with other furniture and objects in ever-varying visual contexts. With the Diana alphabet from A to F, a living room can be transformed into a cafe – or into a word in an entirely new, entirely personal language.
The occasional tables from the Diana series by Konstantin Grcic, crafted from sheet steel, were deliberately designed to remain open to different interpretations and uses. The striking three-dimensional form of the tables is created through just a few clever folds in the metal – no screws, no joints, no additional materials interrupt the pure form. For outdoor use, the Diana B versions are available with a special weatherproof and UV-resistant powder Coating. As with the indoor version, a choice of ten striking colours is available.
The longer I worked on the project, the more I understood that three simple folds can be enough to create a beautiful three-dimensional shape.
