Nettle

Nettle

We have expanded our rug collection to include nettle, a natural fibre that we use to reinterpret Eileen Gray's 100% sustainably manufactured rugs. Our objective is to preserve the creative legacy of a visionary designer while uniting it with traditional craftsmanship.

The Himalayan nettle we use grows wild and untreated in the forests around Jiri, a region often referred to as the ‘Switzerland of Nepal’. Harvested by hand in an environmentally friendly manner and in harmony with local traditions, the fibres undergo a meticulous multi-stage process: washed in spring water, lightened with regional clay, then hand-spun and dyed with environmentally safe pigments. The resulting nettle fibres are exceptionally durable, easy to maintain and characterised by a subtle silky sheen and naturally irregular colour absorption – qualities that lend Eileen Gray's geometric designs a new, softer depth. All materials are OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified, and the rugs are also recognised with the STEP label for their socially and environmentally responsible production.
The rugs are manufactured in collaboration with M2Rugs, a company committed to high social and environmental standards. The new rugs represent not only quality and sustainability, but also the preservation of cultural identity: the project actively promotes and passes on traditional knowledge of nettle processing. Each rug tells a story of nature, craftsmanship, and design.

Manufactured in collaboration with M2Rugs, a company with high social and environmental standards that is PETA certified. These new rugs embody more than quality and sustainability. They represent the preservation of cultural identity, actively supporting and passing on the traditional art of nettle processing. Each rug becomes a narrative – of nature, craftsmanship, and design.
