Eileen Gray understood how to combine the aesthetic with the practical as did few designers. The geometrically structured mirror Castellar, designed for her summerhouse E1027, is a proof of this. With Castellar the swivel-mounted section allows you to easily view your profile. Everything is reduced to the essentials, but it is all within easy reach.
Amazing, how practical Eileen Gray’s mind worked: why pick up a second mirror if you can see your profile by simply folding out a quarter of one? Ingenious.

Eileen Gray
Eileen Gray’s achievement in design and architecture is considered pioneering work of Modernism. During her lifetime, she was honoured by the London Royal Society for Arts with the title Royal Designer for Industry, and she is one of few women mentioned in the same breath as Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe and Marcel Breuer. ClassiCon produces her iconic furniture designs as the sole and rightful licensee worldwide, in coordination with Aram Designs Ltd., London.
